Job Title: Technical Services Superintendent Location: North Platte, Nebraska Position Type: Full-Time Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Technical Services Superintendent to join our team at Sustainable Beef. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of food safety and quality assurance, ensuring that our products consistently meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Your expertise in food production and quality processes will be crucial as you manage daily tasks, conduct audits, and verify documentation to maintain compliance. As a leader in this role, you will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in both food safety protocols and quality control processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for operational excellence, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and quality throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities: Ensure that all products meet or exceed customer specifications and internal quality standards, including USDA and regulatory requirements. Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of product specifications to ensure consistency in product quality, weight, size, appearance, and more. Lead sampling, testing, and quality control initiatives, utilizing statistical process control (SPC) to identify trends and mitigate risks. Drive process improvements through analysis of quality data and customer feedback, making informed decisions to optimize product quality and minimize defects. Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet required standards. Lead the development and maintenance of the plants HACCP program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer safety requirements. Serve as the facilitys SQF Practitioner, responsible for ensuring SQF standards and food safety certification are consistently met. Conduct regular food safety audits, both internal and external, preparing the facility for third-party inspections and certifications. Train and certify management, FSQA team members, and HACCP monitors, ensuring a thorough understanding and application of food safety and quality protocols. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and quality excellence among all team members. Collaborate with production and other departments to resolve quality issues, streamline operations, and uphold safety standards. Maintain accurate documentation for HACCP, SQF, and quality assurance programs, ensuring compliance and traceability. Manage Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes for both quality and food safety, ensuring timely identification and resolution of issues. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field is preferred but not required. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance, HACCP, or food safety, ideally within a meat processing or related environment. Previous supervisory experience in a production environment preferred. Knowledge of HACCP, USDA, GMP, and SSOPs is highly valued. HACCP certification preferred. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and regulatory auditors. Ability to foster a collaborative team environment and motivate employees. Participate in training programs to improve skills. Follow all company policies and procedures.
