Lead Communications Locator (Construction)
Long Lines Broadband is seeking an experienced and dedicated Lead Communications Locator to join our team. This leadership role involves managing a team of 3-4 employees, ensuring the accurate locating and marking of underground utilities, and contributing to system maintenance and infrastructure projects. Rate: $25-$30/hour plus on call and overtime pay if applicable
Location: Sergeant Bluff, IA
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Lead and manage a team of 3-4 employees, ensuring high standards of productivity and quality.
- Read and interpret maps and documentation to accurately locate underground utilities.
- Operate handheld detection equipment to identify and mark utility locations.
- Prioritize and schedule locating requests to optimize efficiency.
- Mark underground utility locations using spray paints, flags, and required tools.
- Accurately document completed locates using a company-provided laptop.
- Update and maintain current mapping data using GIS mapping software.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure infrastructure maps are accurate and up-to-date.
- Analyze and verify mapping data for consistency and identify opportunities for improvements.
- Support plant design, quality control, damage prevention, and residential/commercial development projects.
A successful Lead Communications Locator has:
- Experience in the locating industry and familiarity with underground utility construction.
- Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with employees, contractors, homeowners, and work crews.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications.
- Availability to participate in on-call schedules (every 4 weeks).
