Technical Support Tech (2:30p-11:00 pm) (Information Technology)
Job Summary: Process requests and deliver medical equipment to the patient areas at MCHS and Urgent Care Centers. Retrieve and sanitize equipment used by patients. Store and maintain inventory of the medical equipment assigned to the department. Maintains accurate records of all incoming and outgoing equipment via a computerized tracking system. Minimum Job Requirements:
Prior customer service experience.
Job Specific Duties:
Answers telephone promptly, courteously, and in a helpful manner and relays message in a timely manner.
Collects printed equipment orders and promptly process them for delivery.
Cleans and sanitizes medical equipment as per MCHS policies and manufacturer recommendations.
Collects, prioritizes, records, organizes, and processes data information following established department policies and procedures on safety and sterilization.
Responsible for completing the department forms with correct equipment and patient information for traceability.
Monitors medical equipment inventory levels; assures levels are adequate for the facility and medical equipment are properly stored and rotated.
Performs rounds to retrieve and deliver medical equipment that meets established department policies and procedures on safety and sterilization.
Contact medical equipment rental companies as necessary for equipment. Contact vendor by phone or website.
Identify malfunctioning medical equipment, perform minor maintenance if applicable, or notify Clinical Engineering for repair.
Retrieves calls from staff in regard to concerns or issues with the medical equipment. Examine the equipment to perform minor maintenance or call Clinical Engineering.
Assists in the implementation of new medical technologies including receiving, installation, and/or deployment.
Provide basic support to nursing staff in reference to identification and basic use of the medical equipment assigned to the department.
Responsible for basic operation and troubleshooting of the Getwell TV system, Hill-Rom nurse call system, and Isensix Temperature Monitoring System.
Support Clinical Engineering team and Leaders with special projects.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
High school education or equivalent preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers.
Basic knowledge in use of computers (Microsoft Windows) and ability to learn software application(s).
Able to use computer programs used to track medical equipment and corresponding charges.
Basic technical and operational understanding of the medical equipment managed by the department.
Basic understanding of the Getwell TV system, Hill-Rom Nurse Call, and Isensix Temperature Monitoring System.
Knowledge of Spanish preferred.
Able to communicate clearly and courteously with all MCHS staff and customers.
Able to function independently with little supervision.
Able to maintain confidentiality of all computer-based patient information.
