The Procurement Manager leads in the development and execution of procurement strategies. This person plays a key role in managing supply partners, supply, cost, and risk for food ingredients, spices, and commodities that support the B&G Foods manufacturing network. A successful Procurement Manager will build and manage a strong and dynamic portfolio and will play a critical role in the company's ability to deliver safe, quality, and cost-effective products.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories that incorporate food safety, customer requirements, product requirements, market conditions, business risk, and supplier capabilities.
Manage and forecast costs, purchase price variance, and inventory.
Monitor and improve supplier performance.
Assist the Product Development team with the sourcing of new products.
Collect, evaluate, and report crop conditions, commodity movement, market information, and logistical trends.
Collaborate and communicate with management and cross-functional teams to understand/align on business objectives, risk management, costing, and pricing actions.
Support sales and marketing with data to implement costing actions.
Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor on assigned categories.
Participate in developing annual budgets for assigned categories.
Manage and resolve issues within the supplier network.
Works with cross functional teams to drive cost savings.
Ability to manage savings across multiple platforms. Executes and drives savings projects more than $1MM.
Understands supply, demand, and stock levels for assigned products.
Experience, Skills, Education:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in business-related discipline (i.e. business, economics, finance, accounting, supply chain required
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in procurement, supply chain, and process improvement with a solid foundation in commodity, supplier, and risk management.
Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.
Strong understanding of financial modeling.
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with strong attention to detail.
Experience with an ERP system. Systems proficiency with JD Edwards is desired.
