Senior Manager - Functional Ingredients

The Functional Ingredients Sr Manager is responsible for leading a team of people with multi-cultural awareness and managing a portfolio of research projects and programs for the functional ingredients for Mars Snacking business globally. This position is an important role to develop new functional ingredients (bioactives, dairy, fats & oils, alternative proteins) and capabilities to deliver our innovation platforms across the Mars Snacking portfolio in line with our sustainability goals.

The senior manager is expected to form strategy for mid and long-term technology development working with internal and external partners, utilizes the Technology Readiness Level stage gate system as guiding business process to enable prioritized, relevant and innovative solutions to key technical business challenges within the segment.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 10 years of R&D experience in scientific discipline in food science/physiology, psychopharmacology/pharmacology, neuroscience or related CPG industry experience.
• Preferred - Master's degree/Ph.D. and 10+ years of R&D experience in human health science/physiology, psychopharmacology/pharmacology, neuroscience or related field including 5+ years in clinical research and claim substantiation. 5+ years of CPG industry.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with global teams.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities in leadership of research / scientists. Ability to engage technical teams against clear business deliverables and hold teams to highest quality research standards
• Experience in clinical research strategies, early-stage claims development, and nutrition is preferred but not required and knowledge of clinical research design.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Build, engage, and develop team and capabilities - role model Great Line Management.
• Ensure all team projects are driven against clear objectives, deliverables, milestones, and in accordance with Mars Science Operating System requirements including IP and communications strategy.
• Develop long-term functional ingredients-based strategic vision in partnership with Commercial, Innovation and other stakeholders, ensuring this is based on sound technical knowledge and up to date, relevant business and consumer insights
• Develop and implement research strategies for key functional ingredients against business strategy to protect and grow the business.
• Develop functional programs (such as wellbeing - gut health, brain health, etc.) and communications in support of business priorities.
• Collaboratively working with cross functional internal and external partners to develop strong relationships with suppliers and universities.
• Partner with key stakeholders and innovation team to ensure effective development of claims, communications, and publication strategies especially programs requiring clinicalstudies

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position mayalso include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offeredand the employee's work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
