Mechanic Specialist, Level 1-4 (Pueblo) (Finance)
Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for the inspection and repair of turbochargers, blowers and Caterpillar 3600 power heads. Work is performed daily in a machine shop and candidates will be expected to become proficient in the use of all machine shop equipment. The position is within a maintenance group which requires occasional travel. The regular work schedule is four ten hour days per week. The position requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends.
Job level is commensurate with experience and skill set.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
•The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude.
•These duties include assessing the condition of engine and compressor components as well as performing the required maintenance based on company standards and original manufacturer's specifications.
•Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety and environmental concerns.
•Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork timely and accurately.
•Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
•Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
•Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance.
•Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
•Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
•Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
•This position requires the individual to follow all safety policies so that tasks and assignments are completed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, with an emphasis on finishing each day injury and incident free.

Position Requirements
Education:
•High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience/specific knowledge:
•Strong mechanical aptitude.
•Experience in mechanical maintenance of reciprocating/centrifugal compressor units preferred.
•Knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
•Knowledge reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, OEM technical manuals and other diagrams.
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver license, and maintain a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Competencies, skills, and abilities
•Ability to operate forklifts and light industrial equipment.
•Applicant must be able to operate hand, pneumatic and hydraulic tools. Proficiency with micrometers and precision measuring equipment is also required.
•Ability to read and interpret various company policies and procedures.
•Ability to respond in a timely manner to any emergency or after-hours calls.
•Good communication skills - must be able to interface effectively with many internal and external customers, company contacts and co-workers.
•Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software if applicable), trainable to custom software applications,
•Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
•Ability to focus on customer needs.
•Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules.
•This individual will be responsible for administrative tasks including ordering and receiving required replacement parts, completing personal time sheets and expense accounts, and maintaining a company vehicle (when necessary) and tools.
•Achieve and maintain all OQ qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
Physical demands:
•This position requires manual dexterity and visual acuity, as well as the ability to:
•Lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
•Exert up to 100 lbs. of physical force.
•Stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods of time.
•Twist head and back for extended periods of time.
•Work in areas classified as confined space.
•Climb and work from ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms.
•Ascend and descend slopes and ditches.
•Work with hands above head.
•Work lying on back.
•Work in adverse weather and/or extreme temperature conditions.

Working conditions:
•The individual will be working in an industrial environment, which includes, but not limited to machine shop /fabrication shops.
•Must be available for call-outs 24/7, except during company sponsored paid time off.
•Position is based in Pueblo, CO, reporting to the KMI Devine Station.
•Minimal overnight travel away from the reporting location may be required.
•The successful candidate will be required to clear a DOT drug screen and a complete background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
•This individual will be required to work effectively in a team atmosphere. A typical work schedule is Monday through Thursday, ten hours per day.
•This position may require working abnormal hours, overtime, schedule changes, and the ability to respond to call-outs.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
•Machine shop certificates
•Other Mechanical certifications
Pay range is $34.00 - $48.00 per hour. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
