Mechanic, Level 1-4 (Altamont, UT) (Finance)
Primary purpose:
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and/or auxiliary equipment. Perform heavy mechanical maintenance and replacement of reciprocating and screw compressors, engines and Process equipment.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
These duties include assessing the condition of engine and compressor components as well as performing the required maintenance based on company standards and original manufacturer's specifications.
• Based on experience, mentor team mates and other company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety and environmental concerns.
• Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork timely and accurately.
• Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
• Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
• Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
• Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance.

Position Requirements
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience /specific knowledge:
•Experience in mechanical maintenance of reciprocating/centrifugal compressor units. Also, preferably, experience with Caterpillar/ Waukesha engines, Ariel, RDS and Cooper natural gas compressors, auxiliary engines, and related Process equipment such as fans, coolers and pumps.
•Experience in engine and compressor overhauls including top ends, swings and zero hour overhauls.
•Experience in troubleshooting natural gas driven engines, compressors and associated equipment.
•Basic knowledge of engine emissions which consist of AFR adjustment, catalyst process and analyzing instruments.
•Basic knowledge of station operations and equipment functions.
•Experience with Cat ET and Waukesha ESM programs.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver license, and maintain a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
•Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of compressor engines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy maintenance related to engine/compressor units. Also, preferably, experience with natural gas compressors, auxiliary engines, and related equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain natural gas plant equipment, pumps, exchangers, compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
• Ability to operate forklifts and light industrial equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret various company policies and procedures, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manual and blueprints.
• Ability to respond in a timely manner to any emergency or after-hours calls.
• Good communication skills - must be able to interface effectively with many internal and external customers, regulatory officials, company contacts and co-workers.
• Must have detailed knowledge of mechanical equipment, internal combustion engines, pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
• Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software if applicable), trainable to custom software applications,
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals)
• Customer focus.
• Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules.
• This individual will be responsible for administrative tasks including ordering and receiving required replacement parts, completing personal timesheets and expense accounts, and maintaining a company vehicle.
• This position requires acting as a company representative when interacting with contractors and vendors.
• This individual will be required to work effectively in a team atmosphere. A typical work schedule is 4 days per week, ten hours per day.
• This position requires some overnight travel, working other than normal hours, overtime, schedule changes, and the ability to respond to call-outs.

This position requires manual dexterity and visual acuity, as well as the ability to:

Working Conditions:
• The individual will be working in an industrial environment, which includes engine rooms and auxiliary buildings
• Must be available for callouts 24/7, except during company sponsored paid time off.
• Must live within a reasonable response time from the reporting location
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
• The successful candidate will be required to clear a DOT drug screen and a complete background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Supervisory responsibility:
•This is not a supervisory position.
