Who you are: You are a problem solver who enjoys working as part of a team. With at least three years of experience as a mechanic and a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License, you excel in your field. You appreciate the outdoors, working with your hands, and the satisfaction of getting equipment running smoothly again. Dependability, a commitment to quality work, and a willingness to ask questions are key aspects of your character.
What the job is: The Heavy-Duty Mechanic will handle a variety of tasks both in our truck shop and out in the field. Your work will primarily involve maintenance on heavy-duty logging and road construction equipment such as yarders, loaders, bulldozers, excavators, dump trucks, and occasionally four-wheel drive vehicles. Your responsibilities will include tire and oil changes, greasing, replacing hoses and parts, welding, and maintenance.
Work schedule: An example of the schedule could look like Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM or 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. Days off are Saturday and Sunday. During the height of the season (summer months) there will be overtime available during the week and a few Saturdays.
Where you'll work: You will work at our Truck Shop located in Humboldt County along the northern California coast. The shop is nestled in the forest where the redwoods meet the Pacific Ocean. Since the largest part of the work is on heavy equipment, much of it is performed out in the field.
Compensation Details: There is a probationary period per the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement of 60 days for new hires. During that time and any extension, the pay is $33.99. Once you pass the probationary period, the hourly rate goes up to $35.99. If working swing shift there is a per hour shift differential of $.75. Other rewards include eligibility to receive a company-wide annual financial performance bonus and candidate referral bonus.
