Professor of Practice - UH-ACP (Alternative Certification Program) (Finance)
The selected candidate will provide and coordinate coaching and mentoring support for UH-ACP (Alternative Certification Program) teaching interns in the College of Education Teacher Preparation Program, including but not limited to professional development (synchronous and asynchronous, face-to-face and virtual), formal observations with feedback, informal coaching visits, and coordination between university and district supports.
Teaching & coordination of on-site courses
• Support the development and delivery of ongoing professional development courses for students based on data and a UH ACP scope and sequence.
• Regular communication with instructors in the UH Teacher Preparation Program and program administration
• Support the development and collection of asynchronous learning opportunities for ACP students
Supervision of teacher candidates
Supervise one cohort (15-20) of ACP Interns
• Conduct formal performance assessment cycles (POP Cycle) three times in the first semester and two-three times in the second semester
• Conduct informal coaching visits five times in the first semester and two-four times in the second semester
o Use performance assessments and coaching visits to collect data for program improvement and to provide ongoing coaching support to Interns
o Ensure accurate entry of T-TESS ratings by coordinator and Intern 48 hours to one week following the performance assessment
• Maintain current T-TESS certification
• Complete documentation in a timely manner throughout the semester.
District & school sites
• Collaborate with district and school administrators to select high-quality mentor teachers
• Conduct regular mentor teacher trainings twice per semester
• Facilitate three principal meetings (Governance Meetings) twice per semester to create & foster a positive relationship with district and school site staff
Professional development
• Attend and participate in coordinator training and ongoing professional development meetings
• Attend program meetings to contribute and share evaluation ratings of TC s
Professional conduct
• Follow all rules and guidelines established by the district for acceptable professional conduct and dress
• Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication and confidentiality with teacher candidates and school/district personnel
• Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites
Qualifications
Minimum Masters degree in Education-related field
Minimum 3 years teaching in EC-12 classroom
Current relevant teacher certification preferred
Requires knowledge of public school settings
Policies, procedures and certification requirements change over time; occasional updating of credentials and/or additional training may be required
