The HR Generalist is responsible for a variety of HR functions, with a primary focus on benefits administration, leave management, and general HR operations. This role supports the overall HR department and ensures compliance with legal regulations and company policies.
How will I contribute
Oversee the enrollment, changes, and communication of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and other voluntary benefits. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, including eligibility, coverage, claims assistance, and general HR inquiries. Collaborate with external vendors, brokers, and insurance carriers to ensure plan compliance, resolve issues, and stay updated on benefits offerings. Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process, including educating employees about plan options, deadlines, and ensuring timely submission of forms. Maintain accurate records and reporting for all benefits administration tasks and provide regular updates to leadership. Administer various leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Paid Time Off (PTO), ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Work closely with employees, managers, HR, and payroll to track leave balances, update records, and ensure smooth processing of leave requests. Provide guidance to employees on their rights and responsibilities during leaves, and ensure all related documentation is accurately maintained. Assist in the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including surveys, recognition programs, and wellness activities, to enhance job satisfaction and employee retention. Assist in the management of the workers' compensation program, supporting injury claim processes and ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations. Act as a liaison with insurance carriers and assist with claim documentation as needed. Assist in the preparation of reports for internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory agencies. Maintain and update employee files and records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Ensure records are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements. Stay informed on legal updates related to benefits, leaves, and workplace safety to ensure ongoing compliance. Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the company remains compliant. Support the development and enforcement of company policies related to workplace behavior, harassment, and discrimination. Provide exceptional customer service to employees, addressing questions, offering guidance, and providing solutions regarding benefits, leaves, and HR policies. Develop and implement effective communication strategies to educate employees about benefit offerings, leave policies, and claims processes. Assist with HR software systems, ensuring the accurate input of employee data, managing system updates, and troubleshooting issues related to HR platforms. Collaborate with management to ensure consistent understanding and application of HR policies and programs across the organization. Compile and analyze HR data, such as turnover rates, recruitment metrics, and employee satisfaction surveys, to provide insights and recommendations for improving HR practices. Assist with the exit process for departing employees, including conducting exit interviews, preparing and processing termination paperwork, and ensuring compliance with separation policies and procedures. Assist in the employee performance evaluation process, including tracking and coordinating evaluations, providing training on performance management techniques, and ensuring timely completion of performance reviews. Support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management activities as needed. Assist in HR projects, policy development, and other special initiatives to enhance the overall HR function. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program.
What I bring
Bachelors degree in human resources, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience. 3 years experience as a Human Resources generalist. Class C Driving License Possesses specialized knowledge in various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management. Proficient in using HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) to manage employee data, generate reports, and streamline HR processes. Well-versed in compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws, with the ability to leverage HRIS tools to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence in HR operations. Demonstrated abilities in managing multiple HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management. Proficient in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and providing clear communication across all levels of the organization. Keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of HR policies and legal requirements, adept at ensuring compliance, maintaining accurate records, and fostering a positive and productive workplace. Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion. Demonstrates excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity. A strong team player who is knowledgeable in HR policies and practices and is committed to fostering a positive, compliant, and productive work environment. HR certification is highly preferred. Previous experience with OnePoint HCM is a plus.
