Asst Professor of Instruction, Sound & Projection (Finance)



Position: The School of Theatre and Dance in the USF College of Design, Art + Performance is seeking a Sound and Projection Design expert to create, teach, and mentor. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure earning Assistant Professor of Instruction, which contributes to the teaching and service missions of the University of South Florida. The anticipated start date is August 7, 2025.Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree or equivalent professional experience in an area directly related to sound and/or projections, demonstrated artistic achievement in sound, ability to quickly learn new technologies and keep updated in the fields of sound and projection technologies, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students in artistic and implementation processes of theatre technology.

Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in sound and projection design and implementation, teaching experience at the collegiate level, including undergraduate mentorship.

Grow Here .Duties: The Sound and Projection designer will work in some capacity on all the School of Theatre and Dance's six main productions-2 plays, 2 musicals, 2 major dance concerts. They will provide or mentor student designers in providing sound support for the mainstage theatre works including content creation and live mixing as appropriate. They may also provide similar projection design and implementation support for an agreed upon number of productions. Sound editing and projection support will be contributed to Dance concerts. Additionally, they will teach undergraduate Sound and Projection classes. The amount of time assigned to each task will be dependent upon season and curricular needs. Apply
