Material Handler (2nd Shift) (Transportation)
High school graduate or equivalent GED.
Able to read and understand written instructions, to include Manufacturing Orders, Job Hazard Analysis, and policies and procedures.
Basic math skills to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Ability to accurately complete shipping, receiving, and inventory forms.
Able to perform physical work. Job requires lifting, moving, and adjusting products with an average weight of 25 to 50 pounds. May require moving heavier materials exceeding 50 pounds periodically to assist team. Job involves standing during most of shift with some sitting.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Performs Material Handling
Manually or using various types of equipment, performs various material handling duties in the facility. Unloads material and completes appropriate paperwork with truck deliveries and places material in appropriate locations within the warehouse.
Production
Responsible for providing each machine with the proper stock and cases as required by the Manufacturing Orders (MO) posted for that machine. Ensures continuous production flow and zero downtime prior to the completion of the MO. Provides accurate and legible transfer and return slips as necessary. Confirms the accuracy of all work in progress (WIP) and finished goods transfers and follows up with corrective action when necessary.
Receiving
Unloads all incoming materials in a safe and efficient manner to ensure zero product damage. Confirms accuracy of freight bill of goods received and investigates and corrects any discrepancies as needed. Provides proper product placement regarding warehouse location, product visibility, and accessibility.
Shipping
Picks finished goods out of storage locations and prepares for shipment by weighing and wrapping the pallet and completing the appropriate paperwork. Loads raw materials or finished products onto outbound trucks.
Performs Operations and Safety Checks
Prior to signing out equipment, performs operations and safety checks, including battery, breaks, lift controls, and fire extinguisher. Maintains charged battery in the fork truck by switching with batteries on the charger. Reads and follows all addition guidance found in the Job Hazzard Analysis (JHA).
Inventory Control
Conducts cycle counts as required and informs Production Supervisor or Inventory Specialist.
Organizes Work Area
Organize work area in a clean and efficient manner to perform processes according to established standards, productivity levels, housekeeping, and safety requirements. Stacks skids and pallets in designated areas.
Reports Mechanical Problems
Informs supervisor of operating deviations or mechanical problems as they occur. Reports any damage caused by use of equipment immediately.
Other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required. Safety, hygiene and cleanliness is strictly enforced. Applicants must be able to engage in periods of long standing and walking, and perform consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Compensation Range: $18.15 - $22.18 per hour, consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position.
