Reporting to the Finance Director/Accounting Manager, the Billing Specialist is responsible for the oversight of billing and activities related to Kings View fee-for-service mental health programs. This includes timely and accurate billing, collection, payment application, denial management and other revenue cycle duties as assigned.
How will I contribute
Facilitate and use best strategies for the optimization of revenue, billing, and collections process. Research coding, billing, and charge compliance issues. Recommend and implement corrective action. Perform Accounts Receivable detail editing prior to the month end billing process. This includes suspense errors, duplicate service check, service review to the proper pay source, and a final edit check. Process the month-end Accounts Receivable billing in Credible for all payors. Analyze and manage client accounts. This Includes account adjustments, rebilling, and client and 3rd party payment posting and denial management. This also includes understanding of system AR balances and financial setup arrangements to be able to assist consumers and staff with any questions. Abide by all applicable confidentiality laws and requirements. Oversee change control process as it relates to the billing cycle (such as charge master and billing table updates) and ensure proper analysis and communication is completed. Assist with the development of project work plans when needed and manage special projects as needed. Interface with clinical teams, information technology staff, other finance team members and third parties as needed. Review contract terms and conditions related to the revenue process to determine required deliverables for billing. Collaborate with leadership and end users to identify opportunities for optimization of system. Apply payments in Credible and GP upon receipt. Generate and distribute accounts receivable aging reports no less than monthly. Generate and distribute monthly billing related activity reports, such as total revenue billed, unbilled services, payments applied, adjustments and write-offs. Assist in bank account reconciliations. Prepare bank deposits and general ledger entries when needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
What I bring
High School Diploma (or Equivalent) 2 years experience in medical/healthcare/behavioral health/nonprofit billing. Proficiency in medical coding, billing software, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Class C Driving License Understand the revenue cycle/process and the importance of maximizing billing and timely collection of payments. Organized, problem solving skills and attention to details. Moderate level of experience with Excel and proficient with business software tools. High level of competency in managing large volumes of data. Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve complex billing matters. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment across departments and programs. Strong work ethic and practice of One Team style as well as an ability to maintain healthy accountability for your respective job duties. Great attention to detail, ability to work with others and prioritize work. Associate degree, previous medical billing experience focused on nonprofit healthcare organizations, certification in Medical Billing and Coding is highly desirable.
