McKay Creek Assisted Living Facility is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team. The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious and appetizing meals while maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate has a passion for cooking, enjoys working with seniors, and thrives in a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to the facility's menu and dietary guidelines.
Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and quality of food served to residents.
Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with state and local health regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including equipment, appliances, and food storage areas.
Monitor food inventory, assist in ordering supplies, and minimize food waste.
Accommodate special dietary needs and resident preferences while maintaining nutritional balance.
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, caregivers, and management to ensure residents receive timely meals.
Uphold a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with residents, families, and team members.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Administrator.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior cooking experience in an assisted living, healthcare, or similar environment preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, kitchen sanitation, and proper handling of food.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work weekends and holidays as needed.
ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire) is a plus.
