The incumbent in this role will be located in the St. Petersburg Campus, but will report to the Lead Certifying Official in the Tampa Campus to maintain compliance with the Veterans Benefits Administration. The St. Petersburg Campus supports approximately 900 veteran and military-connected students, but does not currently have a full-time School Certifying Official to serve students in-person. Therefore, the office location for this position will be at the St. Petersburg campus to be the primary point of contact for students accessing their VA benefits, and the incumbent will also support VA school certifications across OneUSF.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Knowledge of local, state, and federal veteran's programs and educational benefits that are provided to veterans and the family or spouse of a veteran. Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and collaborate collegially and effectively with diverse students, staff, faculty, administrators, and the community. Demonstrated ability to organize and manage work and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills. An understanding of and commitment to the University's vision, mission, and values.

Assists with the development and implementation of procedures meeting the responsibilities in the VA enrollment certification process and Title 38 of the United States Code (U.S.C.). Serves as the primary Certifying Official for corporate training, professional education, and degree-seeking students using VA education benefits. Prepares individual student enrollment certification requests. Verifies the accuracy of enrollment data and confirms the eligibility of each VA student certified based on overall program. Input certification data into the University and VA Databases. Maintains appropriate certification records and supporting documents in accordance with the DoD MOU VA Regulations, State Approving Agency Standards, and University policies.
Serves as a resource person for all VA educational information. Interprets and advises all VA students regarding VA regulations governing the receipt of their VA educational benefits and programs, to include Advance Payment, VA Work Study Program, and Tutorial Assistance. Researches and responds to all inquiries regarding all VA certifications. Contacts the VA on behalf of the VA students to resolve and/or clarify discrepancies. Participates in VA and State ongoing training, informational sessions, and professional development regarding changes and updates to VA policies, procedures, and systems related to educational benefits.
Implements controls and audit checks to protect against institutional liability. Monitors the enrollment and academic performance of each VA student to the VA in accordance with VA regulations and University policies. Reports all subsequent changes of program and/or registered hours to the VA. Ensures that each VA student is pursuing a VA approved program of study. Consults with faculty advisors to ensure that every course for which a veteran student is certified fulfills a degree requirement. Maintains a working relationship with other University administrative and academic offices to ensure accurate and timely reporting of student status to the VA Regional Office.
Coordinate timely filing of all VA, TA, EDD, and VR&E documentation ensuring all paper and computer records are adequately safeguarded and properly retained and assist in the development and revision of office policies and procedures, as required. Reconcile all incoming payments and prepare deposit for University Cashier.
Supports the Office of Veteran Success programs and events on campus and outreach in the community to support veteran and military-connected student enrollment.
