Senior Business Systems Analyst in Sponsored Projects Administration (Finance)
Specifically, this position will oversee and manage the ongoing maintenance of UTHealth START modules(Proposal Tracking, Proposal Development, Award Tracking, Financial Tracking, Subawards, Entities, and Conflict Of Interest), develop a solid understanding of the modules from both technical and functional perspectives, configure and establish workflow logic, routing, and custom forms within the application and provide technical support to the appropriate institutional research offices as needed.
You will work a hybrid schedule, and your office will be in our University Center Tower in the Texas Medical Center. We prefer candidates with at least a bachelor's degree. We seek people with experience supporting large-scale enterprise software, as thousands of end users access our START modules. You must be flexible, as we may ask this employee to assist with implementations that expand the resource and increase its usage.

Designs, develops, and implements new or enhanced business processes in support of new or enhanced information systems and technology. Provides senior-level business expertise in support of business process changes for information systems projects. Identifies opportunities for business process improvement and initiates projects to make improvements with or without deploying information technology. Leads one or more application implementation team(s).
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Analyzes current business processes, suggests improvements, and participates in the design of new business processes and systems that would encompass highly complex and/or high-profile projects that cross departmental lines. The nature of these projects requires insight into and understanding of supporting information systems and compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
2. Conducts business systems analysis and design, data modeling, process flow modeling, and process reengineering to provide an increase in effectiveness, accuracy, and/or reduction of budget and/or resources. Interview users, reviews, maps, and documents existing business processes and information systems.
3. Prepares business cases, including cost/benefit analysis for proposed process changes and/or proposed new processes.
4. Plans and scopes inter-related initiatives and assists senior-level business stakeholders in making informed decisions about which initiatives to tackle and how to tackle them.
5. Participates in the design of new systems that support business processes. Designs and implements new or improved business processes, new systems designs, and functions with corresponding policy, procedure, and documentation modifications. Compares differences between existing systems and new systems and designs system modifications. Designs interfaces to other systems and identifies reporting requirements. Identifies testing requirements. Designs and executes systems tests and acceptance test scripts and procedures. Develops and leads communications as part of system implementation efforts. Helps to ensure referential integrity of the data model.
6. Leads and participates in application implementation teams. Functions as the project lead for the business process changes being implemented.
7. Develops implementation plans. Analyzes training requirements and designs training materials. Trains users in new policies, procedures, and systems.
8. Communicates with clients and co-workers via oral and written communications, including presentations.
9. Works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Communicates project status and objectives. Communicates with project team and constituencies.
10. Provides post-implementation support and conducts post-implementation reviews.
11. Adheres to applicable UTHealth policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, a relevant business-related field, or related experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
Eight (8) years of related experience. Two (2) years of experience must be in an application being used or implemented, such as an ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning software. The application we use is InfoEd which does research administration functions.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
