Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator (Biotech)

Responsibilities
Conduct and maintain job hazard analysis for new and existing processes equipment.
Investigate workplace accidents and near-misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Perform regular risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards and assist department supervisors and managers with determining corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Lead programs and policies to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations. Review incident/near miss reports, investigate, and follow-up as necessary.
Maintain detailed records of all incidents and prepare reports/metrics as required. Analyze performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements to minimize incidents.
Conduct safety training and certification classes for employees including new hire orientation, annual compliance training, hazard communication, overhead crane, powered industrial trucks, and other specialized training as required in each department.
Collaborate with supervisors, managers, and the safety committee to update EHS policies, procedures, and programs to reflect changes in government regulations and company operations.
Train and conduct scheduled drills to evaluate readiness and emergency response plans. Serve as a point of contact for emergency situations.
Collaborate with department managers to address specific safety concerns and promote continuous improvement in safety practices. Moderate safety committee meetings.
Assists in safety, continuous improvement, and quality activities/projects as directed by manager.
Requirements
Associate's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
1-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and handling regulatory compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
Familiarity with safety management systems, hazard communication standards, and emergency preparedness planning.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop/sustain action plans.
Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects, maintain accurate documentation, and meet regulatory and professional deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise safety documentation and training materials. (Bi-lingual a plus)
Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with employees, management, and external agencies to promote a safety-focused culture.
Experience delivering classroom & hands-on training sessions and leading safety meetings.
