Director, Management Operations III (Finance)

Position Summary:
UTHealth Houston's McGovern Medical School is seeking a Director of Management Operations III (DMO III). In this role, the Director will manage the daily clinical, business, and administrative operations for the department of Surgery, driving their ongoing success both nationally and internationally. This position is essential for upholding high standards of patient care, enhancing operational efficiency, and promoting collaboration within and between departments. Additionally, the Director will be tasked with budget oversight, strategic planning, and the creation of innovative programs to bolster the departments' research and clinical service offerings.
Working under the leadership of renowned Professor and Chair, Dr. Richard Andrassy, the DMO will identify and develop strategies and initiatives to fund the Department's research and teaching efforts. The incoming DMO will have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team of more than 490 employees, including 115 clinical faculty members, 6 research faculty, 3 staff physicians, and 36 Advanced Care Providers. This role is responsible for overseeing annual budgets exceeding $120 million and managing the administrative operations across seven clinical divisions and 26 clinic locations. The DMO will play a key role during a period of exciting growth and innovation, collaborating closely with affiliate partners: Memorial Hermann's TMC and Surgery Center campuses, Harris Health's Lyndon B. Johnson hospital, and UT Physicians.
Candidates should have at least seven (7) years of proven experience in leading a large-scale clinical operations program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic insight, strong collaborative skills, and a dedicated focus on building relationships with physicians, clinicians, faculty, students, and staff.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, Public Health Care Administration or related field. Advanced degree preferred
Minimum Experience:
Seven (7) years of related experience preferably in an academic or healthcare administration setting.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
