Engineering Technician (Engineering)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Position Details: 

This individual will be responsible for engineering technician support related to the coating operations within Viavi Solutions.  The person in this position is the technical interface between the process engineers and the production floor.  This role will involve preparation support related to setting up new products for production, determine optimum methods and approaches to successful manufacturing of products, and providing critical information for customer interactions.  The person in this role will support both the Santa Rosa as well as Viavi's oversees operations.  This person will also work closely with the engineering team to establish systemic solutions and processes to improve process yields, product quality, process consistency, and process training.

Position Duties:

• Work closely with the Engineering team and Operations to provide high quality product to the customer
• Interface with production personnel to provide manufacturing guidance, training and problem solving
• Transfer new products from Engineering to Production ownership
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement activities in manufacturing
• Creating documents / instruction in an MES system
• Converting Design files into production machine executables
• Check Specifications vs. design
• Create analysis files
• Consult with engineers
• Store designs and product file in database
• Creating reports, excel plots, and presentations for customers

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Education/Experience/Knowledge Qualifications:

• Experience in volume manufacturing, as well as low volume, high product mix environments.
• Proven track record of working with engineering to drive systemic solutions to the production floor.
• Demonstrated capability of working with production to meet customer specifications, expectations and on time delivery.
• Experience in working with demanding consumers.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with internal, external and international customers.
• Product development experience is desirable.
• Ability to be US Classified preferable
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Bias for action.
