JOB FUNCTION: The Bakery Sales Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of Bakery programs and providing support to bakery operations. This position will assist in driving and maintaining the vision and standards of Bakery programs and supporting our commitment to growth, profitability and excellence. This position will lead, train, develop and motivate bakery managers and personnel. This position will provide direction regarding sales and merchandising of bakery products in our bakery locations as well as satellite locations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop programs designed to promote products through product knowledge, sales training, and excellent customer service Perform regular store visits to analyze the Bakery program, provide support to bakery staff, audit sanitation practices and procedures, review merchandising plans and recommend improvements Coordinate and conduct training events, seminars and meetings Develop, update and maintain documents including training materials, order guides, and manuals Coaches and counsels on current trends in the bakery industry Partner with Buying department to manage and maintain positive supplier/broker relationships Work with suppliers and buyers to schedule promotions and identify new product offerings Assist in overseeing and coordinating the bakery delivery program to satellite locations Ensure standards for product quality and freshness are understood and upheld by all department personnel Communicate regularly with management and staff regarding proper operations of the department as well as company goals and objectives Oversee bakery activities for new stores and remodels including set up, organizing, ordering of equipment and materials, and hiring and training of bakery staff Resolve product performance issues as they arise Conduct cost analysis, reviewing and monitoring labor, purchases, inventory and other relevant expenses Work closely with managers and personnel to ensure effective, efficient and safe operations Report safety violations and hazards immediately Communicate personnel issues to store managers and regional supervisors for them to investigate and address as deemed appropriate Other duties as assigned BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree in a related field 2 years bakery management experience High degree of discretion and confidentiality Strong background of merchandising and vendor relationships Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills Strong attention to detail Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently Ability to travel as needed to bakeries (which may include overnight travel) *EOE
