Senior Scientist (Biotech)

Lonza Durham is hiring a Senior Scientist - This individual will develop new products that fit within strategic goals of the CellBiology business. This individual will also contribute scientific expertise to other R&D projects as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently designs research projects, prepares project outlines, and tracks project progress toward milestones and deadlines for cell biology development and application projects.
Actively carries out cell isolation and cell culture experiments, either independently or as part of a matrix team, performs data analysis, and develops concise summaries with conclusions and recommendations. Conducts comprehensive problem analysis and troubleshooting.
Compiles experimental results into development reports, manufacturing and quality control instructions, and marketing tools incl. customer presentations, TechNotes, WhitePaper and peer-reviewed publications.
Manages the technical and scientific part of development and application projects and presents project progress and outcomes to peers, project teams and within the Bioscience Sub-BU.
Provides technical support for manufacturing and quality functions.
Evaluates ideas for novel products, improvements and applications and independently establishes new methods in the laboratory.
Represents of Lonza Cell Biology Products at scientific conferences and customer seminars. and supports SST, Sales and customers directly with training, application support and troubleshooting.
Supervises, mentors, and trains Research Associates with the objective to achieve project goals according to timelines and product specifications.
Constantly expands skill set and enhances knowledge related to cell biology by keeping up with the literature, interacting with fellow scientists, and attending scientific conferences
Key Requirements:
Ph. D. or equivalent experience in a life science/cell biology field, with at least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in primary and/or stem cell culture.
Extensive solid understanding in primary cell isolations, culturing, and characterizing.
Strong expertise and/or desire in developing and optimizing cell culture systems (Media, Matrices) for growth and expansion of primary cells.
Experience in generation and application of iPSC and 3D cell culture models is a plus.
Broad cell biology laboratory abilities, including Flow Cytometry, Immune cell-based assay, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry, Microscopy, qPCR, ELISA, TEER, is desired.
Must be able to independently develop and assess new insights, design project plans, and complete projects as part of a matrix team
Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
Previous supervisory experience with strong team leadership is a plus
Strong work ethic, a very high level of motivation and a proven record of accomplishment (e.g., a strong publication record)
Establishes an excellent working relationship and open communication with colleagues across departments such as R&D, Legal, and Marketing

The full-time base annual salary for this onsite position is expected to range between $106,200.00 and $123,900.00. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
