Maintenance Manager (Maintenance)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership
Establish and execute strategic direction which focuses on departmental structure, systems, tools, technologies and interdepartmental communication that promote a proactive approach to maintenance.Develop and controls annual and long-range maintenance & repair (M&R) budgets in collaboration with leadership team.Orchestrate environmental/ maintenance managed systems inspections, certifications, permits and regulatory compliance with appropriate federal, state, and local authorities.Provide project management expertise in the planning, cost justification and implementation of M&R and Capital Expenditure projects.Lead all project related contractors and vendors associated with equipment and system installation, training and start up to assure work is performed safely within scope, timeline, and minimal disruption to operations.
Recruitment & Development
Direct, assess, and mentor maintenance supervisors and hourly maintenance associates in their roles and responsibilities to meet plant objectives in safety, quality, cost and customer service. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, interviewing, and hiring employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Develop skills assessments, goals, succession plans, and long-term staffing needs of maintenance department.Provide technical training, coaching for efficient troubleshooting/problem solving activities and maintenance duties to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime.
Efficiency & Reliability
Manage maintenance and personnel work schedules based on production schedule.Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.Ensure the effective use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to include: work order planning and scheduling, and preventative/predictive maintenance procedures.Develop and track performance measures. Analyzes operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics.Develop and lead the reliability process to continuously improve processes including equipment uptime and reduce related maintenance cost.Drive asset accountability to ensure accurate inventory levels and cost containment focusing on standard replacement parts and critical spare usage, and automate materials requisition functions.,Drive root cause failure analysis of equipment failure and ensure action plans are developed to correct failures.
Safety
Champion corporate food safety culture and strategies to mitigate food safety risk by ensuring maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment meet quality and food safety standards.Responsible for instilling the importance of safety in the workplace through adherence to safety rules, practicing safe work habits, utilizing appropriate safety equipment, reporting unsafe conditions promptly, training and directing personnel on SOPs, best practice, regulatory standards, and company policies and procedures.Oversee the buildings and grounds such that good manufacturing practices (GMP) are adhered to and a professional appearance is maintained.
Additional Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned from management to ensure business operations run smoothly.Ability to be flexible to the productions needs and adjustments to work-hours.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.
Support Responsibility
In the absence of Maintenance Supervisor, this position serves as back up to ensure all maintenance functions, food safety, quality objectives and SQF system requirements are met.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Experience in managing, recruiting, assessing and coaching a successful team of maintenance personnel.Ability to partner with other senior leaders and Company resources to drive results.Ability to plan and manage within budget and time constraints.Excellent analytical problem solving, diagnostic and conflict management skills; ability to define problems and resolve them quickly.Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.Strong conceptual knowledge of electrical and mechanical systemsStrong computer application skills, network and PC business application software.Knowledge of PLC (Programable Logic Control) and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)knowledge of production equipment mechanization and automation, and HVAC systems, refrigeration, and/or wastewater operations supporting production.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, manufacturing, Production Operations Management or equivalent field of study OR equivalent experience7+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, food industry preferred.5+ years management experience
Demonstrated experience in engineering design and large capitol project management.Experience in manufacturing equipment procurement, sourcing, installation, and parts management.Experience in safety management and environmental compliance.Experience preparing and managing department budgets.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position, but there may be occasional travel as required by the business.
Work Schedule
The typical work schedule is 8.00 hours per day 5 days per week with expectation to work weekends, evenings, and holidays based production, and/or downtime as needed.
Work Environment & Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the conditions are typical to working in a plant/shop floor setting in an area that is visible and accessible to other employees. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee may work around moving mechanical parts, high voltage, pinch points, troubleshoot machines with hot surfaces, sharp edges (knives), and/or removed guarding. The employee is also regularly exposed to airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. Employee should read the warning labels for information and instructions. Rizo Lopez maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as required by law on hazardous products. SDSs are kept at the office for review by employees. The employee occasionally works in high or confined spaces and is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
