Under direct supervision, of Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager for Adult System of Care Department. A system of care is a subdivision for the clinical Services Department. The position assists in the service delivery program to consumers and performs related work as required. The Peer Support Specialist I differs from the Peer Support Specialist II in that this person requires training and support to develop the ability to independently handle responsibilities in the basic program services delivery. As an entry level consumer support position, the emphasis is the necessary training and professional development needed to become an independent participant as a full member of the service delivery team. May provide transportation of clients as directed by supervisor. Peer Specialist will learn, develop and assist in the implantation of life skills, within the philosophy of Wellness and Recovery Model by Mary Ellen Copeland. Provide support to case managers and therapist in consultation with supervisor to support the consumers in working on their wellness plans and goals. Provide information and communication between different treatment team members in various treatment team meetings, etc
How will I contribute
Learn about Peer Support Philosophy and incorporation in the role of Peer Support Specialist. Provide for the safety of consumers while participating in or at the Oak Wellness Center activities. Open and direct the Oak Wellness Center on the weekends. Learn, develop and assist in the implementation of life skills groups; within the philosophy of Wellness and Recovery. Support consumers in working their Wellness Plan. Work closely with supervisor in the development, input, and maintenance of the weekend program. Communicate pertinent information, both in writing and verbally to supervisor or designee. Contribute creative ideas to make program more effective. Achieve basic competence in using our electronic record keeping system. Achieve all performance standards. Weekend and Holiday hours will be required in order to meet program needs. In the course of performing job duties, follows all Kings View policies and procedures, administrative directives, all relevant county, state and federal regulations, and any performance obligations contained in Kings View program contracts with other entities. Familiarity with and adherence to compliance with the code of conduct and the requirements of the compliance program are elements of performance evaluations and conditions of employment. What I bring
High School Diploma (or Equivalent) Class C Driving License Must be engaged in personal wellness and recovery if a consumer. Must be a current or past consumer of mental health services or a family member of a consumer if program required. Interest in obtaining the knowledge of the philosophy and goals of program assigned; common practices and procedures in wellness and recovery interaction with clients. Relate to others comfortably and able to establish and maintain effective relationships with both peers and staff. Basic understanding and appreciation of wellness and recovery principles. Data entry into the various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data. Demonstrated interest in the care of individuals with mental illness. Organized, task oriented and flexible. Ability to follow through with assigned tasks on timely manner. Must meet employment eligibility requirements as established by the program's funding agency.
