Summary of Position:
The Lead Mechanic directs the daily maintenance operations of a department or establishment. This individual's duties revolve around conducting inspections and regular maintenance checks on facilities and equipment and performing preventive maintenance as necessary. The Lead Mechanic is also responsible for troubleshooting issues, fixing and replacing components, cleaning various areas, installing fixtures, and providing technical support to employees. Additionally, a Lead Mechanic guides and trains junior technicians while implementing the company's policies and safety standards for a smooth and efficient workflow.
Functions of the Position: % of Time Essential/ Marginal
· Performs repairs as necessary. Utilizes Express Maintenance
(CMMS) to document repairs and/or installations. 30% Essential
· Initiates and completes preventative maintenance
procedures to ensure equipment is functioning properly. 30% Essential
· Leads a team of maintenance technicians and assigns tasks. 20% Essential
· Develops and implements maintenance plans to ensure
optimal performance of equipment. 10% Marginal
· Practices continuous improvement behaviors to develop and
fine-tune the day-to-day procedures to assist in efficient
operations of the department. 10% Essential
· Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining
safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices,
allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF,
and regulatory requirements.
· Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative
controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
· Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to
management.
· Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and
information within assigned team and across functional areas.
· Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as
professional and leadership development.
· Responsible for compliance with all safety policies and procedures
established for health and workplace safety.
· Responsible for supporting safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors,
reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations as
assigned. Continually

Qualifications
· Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
o Five plus years' experience in directing machine building, or maintenance management.
o Experience in the food industry preferred.
o Technical education in maintenance, electronics, and PLC preferred.
o High school diploma required.

o Strong leadership skills
o Ability to train and mentor employees.
o Safe use of power and hand tools
o Blueprint reading skills.
o Good math aptitude
Job Specific Requirements:
In the event that the Lead Mechanic is absent, the Department Manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
